IMPROVISATION
To be a creatively artistic singer you must learn the art of improvisation. The art form makes the performer more intelligent and innovative as it is never pre-planned or premeditated.
Improvisation is a spontaneous yet calculated addition or twist in a performance. You can improvise on expression, lyrics or melody. It is your ability to improvise that separates you from the common kitchen singer or audience. It also give a performance a certain level of #humanness and eliminates any robotic feel.
Improvisation follows the flow of meaning of a song, the psychological rhythm of an audience or the emotional state of the performer as it relates to the song performed.
Improvisation is a sure friend when it comes to concealing imperfections in a song/act.

The best way to learn or wake up the #improviser in you is to listen to others who have mastered the art. Then you can systematically learn how to be one by following the steps below.

1) Study the song you want ro perform.
2) Sing it through several times.
3) Sing it to yourself in front of a mirror
4) Pick strategic parts of the song, select a word and repeat it in time.
5) Add alternative words to a word.
6) Sing the alternative words in another melody line.
7) Do these repeatedly, over time, it will come out naturally.
