PARTS OF THE SINGING MACHINE 2

Understand these parts and master its function for Optimum results.

Alveolar Ridge: The area just above the back of your upper front teeth (the front edge of the roof of your mouth).

Articulators: The parts of the instruments that help you pronounce words----the tongue, lips, teeth and jaw.

Clavicles: Also known as the collarbones, they are attached to the shoulder blades.

Diaphragm: A sheet of muscle that acts as the “floor” of the rib cage. It is attached to the lowest ribs and its purpose is to pull air into the lungs. It sits like a dome that extends into the rib cage. During inhalation, it contracts (gets smaller), to draw air into the lungs. At this point a singer feels an expansion of the lower abdomen. During exhalation, It expands upward into the rib cage cavity and the abdomen draws itself back inward.

Hard palate: The interior (front) portion of the roof of your mouth.

Larynx: A structure made of cartilage and small muscles at the upper end of the trachea that contains the vocal folds. The primary function of the larynx is to serve as a valve to prevent food or beverage is making its way into larynx. In singing, the function of the larynx is phonation.

Lungs: Sponge –like sacs found inside the rib cage that fill with air and are the principal organs of respiration (breathing).

Pharynx: the space inside your throat above the vocal folds in the larynx, extending up into the area directly behind the nose.
