PARTS OF THE SINGING MACHINE 2 Understand these parts and master its function for Optimum results. Alveolar Ridge: The area just above the back of your upper front teeth (the front edge of the roof of your mouth). Articulators: The parts of the instruments that help you pronounce words----the tongue, lips, teeth and jaw. Clavicles: Also known as the collarbones, they are attached to the shoulder blades. PARTS OF YOUR INSTRUMENT Since we are discussing your voice as a musical instrument, I will try to define the most basic parts. Your voice is made up of three parts. Source of energy: The breath in the lungs compressed and sent through the trachea and larynx. Source of tonal vibration: When the above-mentioned breath speeds through the larynx, it sets up vibration in the vocal folds (also known as vocal cords). We will use the term phonation to indicate sound made by the human voice. Source of resonance: The tone then resounds within the cavities of the head above the larynx, known as the resonators. This includes the pharynx,, nasal sinuses and the mouth. In addition to the three mentioned parts, the human voice also has the articulators, which include the tongue, lips, teeth and the jaw.
